When wearing ilo jewellery you know you are supporting a mother’s life in Mexico City - the support you give is concrete and you can be sure it reaches its target. It was clear to us right from the beginning that we wanted to support the life of local women producing jewellery in Mexico and we wanted to be responsible for the whole production chain ourselves. No intermediaries are used - these craftswomen work directly for us, so we can pay them fair wages to support their families. We also provide them with social security.

Ilo jewellery is made by women, whose lives would otherwise be very difficult. They might be unemployed or work far from home. Our workers make ilo jewellery at home so they can earn money and run the family home at the same time, which is unusual in Mexico.

Our silver products are manufactured in Taxco by a family-run silversmith. A typical silversmith in Taxco is a family-run enterprise, whose smithy is usually situated in the same building where they live.

Tamarindo is not a charity organisation, but an ordinary company whose operational method is fairness for all participants, including the Mexican craftswomen. Tamarindo is in charge of the whole production process and wants to reassure you, our customer, of the positive working conditions your jewellery has been manufactured in.
